Sky Blue Void

The sky filled
The dazzling emptiness of day
Lines of warped iron
Tin roofs shimmering
Blinded asphalt staring
At the televisions
Radios, mobile phones, laptops
Strung out waves
Of silent information
Peripheral, yet central, outsiders reversed
Everything yearned for
Is nothing
The embers of heartache
The achievements
That slip away
Sky falling in a shining riot
A wreckage of violence
Picking towerblocks bare
Bones, a cleaned carcass
Laid out, ribs standing up to the sun
And devoured
In an impossibility of dreams
Not dreamt
The moment punching a hole
Through the drab greys, the tired lines
The fading lips,
Dead blossom skin, creased and worn
The light leaks out
The infinite, immortal beauty present
In every moment
Glimpsed on a train carriage
Or at the turning of a crossroads
Tearing through this brittle front
A truth,
A fiction,
Not real, but lived, every moment
As real
Under an empty, inverted cup
A tangle of radiation
That weathers, kills
Each still second
A rage of failing action
Devoured by nothing
Finishing as it began
Making up everything that was real
And then dismissing it as dream
The lights lost
In the blackness of the sun
